Introducing our latest theme Undiscovered. It's our second free WordPress theme which is available for download under the GPL licence. We have been working on it since the end of the last year and it feels great to finally release it to public.
In order to release our first theme called Appz, we took a shortcut and used a free PSD template, designed by Michael Reimer. However, this time everything was done in-house: from idea to design, from design to final product. Enjoy this simple little WordPress blog theme and use it on as many websites as you wish.
Like a breath of fresh air, the Undiscovered theme for WordPress has a familiar feel to it. It is very elegant and tends to be cleaner than most of the other free themes around. It has a fully responsive layout and Retina-ready graphics that guarantees a perfect view of your blog on any screen or device.
The Undiscovered theme comes with a whole bunch of pre-defined post formats. Post formats determine how a specific type of content will be styled. By having those at your disposal, you can build a great microblogging website with different content and media types.
This theme has a beautifully designed pink color scheme, but you can easily change those colors and create your own individual look. It features real-time theme customization options that helps you to see the results before applying them to your site. Theme Customizer makes the process of theme setup and customization much easier by taking the blindfold off the user’s head. It also comes with 20+ custom fonts, a logo upload function and a few more styling options.

Disclaimer* Let us assume that you have a fresh copy of the latest WordPress version installed.
Uploading Theme's Files
First of all, you need to download the theme package on to your computer. To install a WordPress theme, log in to your WordPress Dashboard and navigate to Appearance -> Themes section. Then click Add New link on the top of the screen and then click on the Upload link. Browse for the “undiscovered.zip” file on your computer and press Install Now. Complete the installation process by activating the theme.
Installing Jetpack Plugin
The next big thing you should do is to install the Jetpack plugin by WordPress.com. It is required for the "Load more" kind of pagination (as you saw on the demo page) to be active. If you don't have this plugin pre-installed you will be constrained to use the basic WordPress pagination. Jetpack offers a lot more delightful features you might want to try later.
To make Jetpack features available to you, you’ll need to connect your website to WordPress.com. The plugin installation wizard will guide you through this process. At the end, you will also need to activate the "Infinite Scroll" feature:
Importing Dummy Data
The best way to get familiarized with any WordPress theme is to get the same look as in the demo. We would recommend you to load the dummy content that was included in the same .zip archive you have downloaded before (./demo/content.xml).
To load the sample data, go back to your WordPress Dashboard and click on Tools -> Import, then choose “WordPress” to install the WordPress Importer plugin.
Activate plugin and run the import function. Browse for the content.xml file and click Upload file and import. Make sure you select yourself as an author for all the new content that is being imported. Also, make sure you ticked the checkbox to "Download and Import file attachments".
If you, however, decided to skip the demo data import phase, you probably won't have any problems setting up your content. Just in case you run into trouble, we are going discuss the basics of creating and formatting different type of posts. There is not much to say about the standard post, but the rest of the post formats have some simple rules you should know.
Let's say you want to add a gallery with image slider. Go to Posts -> Add New and select "Gallery" as post format. The next step is about the same as inserting a gallery into a standard post (Video tutorial), but the number of columns needs to be reduced to 1 and additional size parameter size="full" has to be added to the gallery shortcode:
Adding links and video posts is as easy as pie. Just insert the desired URL of a website or a video from Youtube at the top of your post and select the appropriate post format. Forget about embedding a video and don't worry about the size parameters. All you need is a Youtube link, the theme does the rest. It's the same with Image post format. Add a single image to the top of your post content area and you are good to go.
To post a quote, simply use the blockquote tag to specify a section that is quoted from another source:
This theme features a gorgeous pink color scheme, but you can change it to something different. You can choose your own colors with a few clicks of a mouse button. The built-in Theme Customizer allows you to make changes and see the results in real-time before applying them to the actual site. To activate Theme Customizer, go to Appearance -> Customize
There are some more styling options available, such as logo settings and 20+ custom fonts. Social media media options are also there with 18 most popular social networks to choose from.
